The right scent. The right bottle.

A little knowledge makes it easier to choose, and easier to compare.

Start with the concentration

Eau de toilette, eau de parfum, parfum and cologne are different versions of a fragrance. Concentration alone does not promise a particular wear time: formulation, skin and conditions all affect the result. Compare the same concentration when you compare prices.

Choose a size that suits you

A smaller bottle can be a useful way to try a fragrance, while a larger bottle may suit a scent you already wear. Compare the exact volume, and check whether the listing is for one bottle or a set.

Read the packaging details

A sealed retail bottle, a tester and an unboxed bottle can have different packaging and terms. Testers may have a plain box or no cap. Check the specific listing rather than assuming the image shows every included item.

Compare the same thing

Keep size, concentration, packaging and condition the same. Read the seller’s delivery and return terms before buying, particularly when a marketplace listing comes from an independent seller.

Choosing a gift

If you know the recipient’s favourite fragrance, check its exact concentration and size. If you are choosing something new, their preferred scent family is a useful starting point. Confirm the packaging and return policy, especially for a gift.
